We are all being hypnotized on a mass scale. You will not believe who is responsible. It is you. All of us have become masters of manipulation. How do we do it? Social media.

Turns out, when we look at the psychology behind marketing we find social media is the perfect tool for self hypnosis. We induce ourselves into a trance with our own voice.

Society has benefited from the power in our palms, but tools of tech are a double edged sword. We all are troubled by recent trends of tension in America. None of us should doubt the role of social media causing polarization to spike. A better understanding of marketing will help us rule over our tech creations. The soul of society is at stake.

The Expert

The infamous man of influence, Robert B. Cialdini who has a PH.D. of psychology, wrote a book that may give us insight to what is happening. It is called: Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion (1984). The book was written before the age of social media, it’s not about hypnosis per se. We do see, however, the influence of marketing tactics on a psychological level.
